Punch Press Operator

The punch operator ensures that the machine is set up properly, functioning well, and producing quality products.  He or she runs the machine and adjusts it to control speed, material feed and the punching process.  The ideal candidate is safety minded, embraces change, is a problem solver, an innovative thinker, and is experienced in prioritizing production runs to ensure that parts are available to meet production demands. Able to sort jobs by material and utilize change-overs, shear and break-out material as required

Job Responsibilities:

  • Produce parts for assembly operations that require shear and turret punch.
  • Safely perform loading and unloading of sheet metal. Change tools and select required machine programs that ensure the quality and productivity.
  • Work safely utilizing proper protective equipment and following all safety procedures. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Follow all manufacturing inventory control procedures and additional paperwork as required.
  • Learn other appropriate manufacturing job functions and serve as back up in other areas when required.
  • Assist with machine preventive maintenance using proper lock out/tag out procedures as required.
  • Meet or exceed productivity per company standards and document downtime and up-time data as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor when needed.

Qualifications:

  •  2-5 years’ experience on a punch or similar machine in a manufacturing environment. Experience with Amada is a plus. 
  • Be able to work Mon - Fri 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM. 
  • Basic understanding of programming is a plus
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement manufacturing environment is helpful.
  • Ability to accurately use and read tape measure, calipers and others as required.
  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints.
  • Attention to detail and when in doubt “Stop & Ask”.
  • Must pass background check as well as pre-employment physical and drug screen.
